OUR MISSION IN GHANA
The Salesians of Don Bosco arrived to the Archdiocese of Accra-Ghana on the 25th of March 1996. Archbishop Dominic Andoh offered a place in Ashaiman, near Tema, where a huge number of youngsters, mainly destitute and abandoned, were roaming around in the streets, pushing trucks and living idle in the markets, exploited and getting involved in all kind of social vices. In an effort to clamp-down the situation, the Salesians in an act of benevolence acquired a plot and built a shelter called “Child Protection Centre” where children and youth found a home, a shelter to sleep, health care, social assistance, food and above all the chance to study and to prepare themselves to be enrolled into the formal system of education.
